About

Our Vision as a Community of Faith is to be Authentic, Dynamic, Accepting and Justice Seeking.

The church is more than a building - It’s a community.

Living Spirit United Church (LSUC) is located in the dynamic and vibrant town of Drayton Valley, Alberta. Born from the former Drayton Valley United Church, LSUC has emerged as one of the youngest members of the United Church of Canada. The UC was founded in 1925 by a historic merger of the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregationalist Churches. LSUC received its official recognition as a community of faith within the UCC and the Northern Spirit Region (NSR) on April 20, 2020.

“There is much to celebrate. There is much to look forward to in hope.  Many opportunities open themselves to the faithful who risk, as together, Living Spirit Drayton Valley gathers as living stones held by God, led by the life and teachings of Jesus, and infused by the breath of the Holy Spirit”

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

One: We gather in gratitude on land that is the traditional territory of the Cree, Dene, Salteaux, Nakota Sioux, and the Metis homelands.

Unison:  We honour Treaty Number 6 and the agreements that were made and still exist on these lands.  We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past.  I dedicate myself to moving forward in relationship with Indigenous people for as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the rivers flow, in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
